HEALTHCARE LEADERS DISCUSSED CURRENT ISSUES IN THE INDUSTRY

Today in Astana, at the School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University, the III Republican Forum of Healthcare Managers “Leadership and Sustainable Development in Healthcare” was held.

A single platform for healthcare executives was created to exchange experience, improve knowledge and management skills in various areas of the healthcare sector, including healthcare financing, risk management, information technology and marketing, patient-oriented services, effective personnel management and quality management in the system healthcare.

The forum was attended by heads of public and private medical institutions, middle managers, representatives of government agencies, WHO, international scientists and health experts.

Welcoming speeches were made by Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov, Chairman of the Council and co-founder of the Kazakhstan Association of Healthcare Managers Kuanysh Ergaliev and Vice President for Medicine - Dean of the NU School of Medicine Massimo Pignatelli.

Another opening speech as a leader with high social activity was given to the Chairman of the Board of SK-Pharmacia, Erkhat Iskaliev, who noted the company’s constant desire to expand opportunities for the medical community, ensuring accessibility and improvement of healthcare systems.

The Model of Effective Medicine was presented to the attention of the audience, the goal of which is to increase the effectiveness of treatment and improve the health of citizens of Kazakhstan to ensure sustainable socio-demographic development of the country. The main indicators of the effectiveness of this model are: a decrease in mortality and an increase in the life expectancy of Kazakhstanis.

The model is based on the conditions for the development of automation and the implementation of IT solutions in the healthcare system, balanced financing of the industry, improved planning based on standardization and an integrated approach that ensures a trinity of system-forming areas - training highly qualified personnel in the healthcare system, improving the drug supply system and high-tech equipment of medical institutions.

In addition, the forum participants were told about the role of the Single Distributor in the healthcare system, the measure of state support in the form of concluding long-term contracts, improving regulations in the field of drug circulation, the development of medical and pharmaceutical clusters in the country and a trade and transport hub with the industrialization of product groups, attracting BigPharma on the domestic market, about investment projects for contract manufacturing with pharmaceutical giants and large vendors of medical equipment.

A single distributor, whose purchase volume accounts for 46% of the total pharmaceutical market in Kazakhstan, has a key role in the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry. And it carries out systematic and comprehensive work in all priority areas, including management, for the development of domestic healthcare, adhering to a patient-oriented approach.

The forum program includes a plenary session “Current issues of healthcare management: reform of compulsory medical insurance”, panel sessions “Effective communications and service in healthcare”, “Evidence-based management”, “Best practices of effective management in healthcare: successful cases” and “Modern challenges of human development potential in healthcare."

During all dialogue platforms between healthcare managers and government and quasi-government structures, the most pressing issues of management in the healthcare system of Kazakhstan were raised.

In conclusion, the forum participants expressed gratitude for organizing the event and the opportunity to establish an open dialogue with industry experts. The forum became a driver for finding solutions to a variety of problems in the field of management and sustainable development in healthcare in Kazakhstan.

The traditional forum of healthcare managers has become a unique platform for the exchange of experience and interaction between the medical community to improve the quality of medical services. The end result is a streamlined system and improved quality of life for patients.
