On June 14, the Single Distributor held a meeting with representatives of the German company Lowenstein Medical, which is one of the leading manufacturers of medical equipment for intensive care departments (anesthesia machines and ventilators), as well as neonatal equipment and sleep therapy.
The meeting on behalf of Lowenstein was attended by Thomas Stuht, the Regional Sales Director of the company, and Nadezhda Borodina, the Regional Manager for the CIS of Levenstein Medical Rus LLC. The meeting was also attended by the exclusive distributors of Löwenstein in Central Asia, the General Manager of Novomed International BV – Irina Golobokova and the Commercial Director of Novomed KZ LLP – Alfiya Kulatayeva.
Löwenstein Medical Company expressed interest in discussing the issues of localization of production in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The company shared information about the history of the company, the product line, and the experience in training technical and medical specialists of medical organizations.
Issues related to localization and contract production of medical equipment in Kazakhstan, the possibility of using mechanisms of long-term contracts, offtake contracts, and "life cycle" contracts were particularly raised at the meeting.
During the discussion, the challenges that European manufacturers may face when implementing projects to localize production in emerging markets, including the market of Kazakhstan, were announced.
In particular, the company Löwenstein Medical announced the requirements that are imposed on all European manufacturers of medical equipment within the framework of the Regulations on Medical Equipment, which in the countries of the European Union adopted new rules and responsibilities for the evaluation of medical products.
Also, much attention was paid to the need to study the requirements for localized products in Kazakhstan, such as thresholds for the share of local content, product certification, availability of production sites, as well as planned implementation dates.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in cooperation. It was noted that it is necessary to consolidate joint efforts for mutually beneficial cooperation.
