On May 18-20, 2022, Prospects for the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry round table was held in Almaty with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the International Healthcare Exhibition - KIHE. This round table was an interim event before the Global Pharm II International Pharmaceutical Forum and the MedTech III International Forum on Medical Technology, which will be held in Nur-Sultan on October 26-28 this year.
The participants of the round table were representatives of government agencies, associations, domestic producers, such as Karaganda Pharmaceutical Complex Medservice Plus LLP, Chimpharm JSC, Takeda Kazakhstan LLP, Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm LLP, Nobel AFF JSC and others.
The round table discussed issues related to the support of domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers and the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the country. There were also raised the issues of the current state of the pharmaceutical market and measures of state support for domestic producers. Each speaker expressed the existing problems of the pharmaceutical market, outlined his role in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, suggested ways and mechanisms of solution.
"Today, the development of domestic pharmaceutical production is one of the priorities set for the industry by the Head of State. The share of the domestic market in the pharmaceutical industry should be about 50% by 2025. The Single Distributor will provide full support to companies for the development of the "Made in Kazakhstan" brand, - said Yerkhat Iskaliyev, Chairman of the Management Board of SK-Pharmacy LLP.
It should be noted that the Single Distributor in its activities ensures the effect of equalizing prices for drugs and MD, regardless of administrative-territorial affiliation, and also systematically increases the coverage of patients with free medicines, including due to the effectiveness of procurement procedures. Since the creation of the single distribution system, the volume of procurement of drugs within the framework of the state volume of free medical care and compulsory social and medical insurance has increased more than 10 times in value terms. At the same time, most of the drugs and MD procured by the Single Distributor are made in Kazakhstan.
"One of the main tasks of SK-Pharmacy LLP is to equalize prices for medicines and improve logistics. The company made an effective centralized procurement of medicines and medical devices for the whole country, which resulted in budget savings of 162.9 billion tenge. The volume of procurement has also increased by 10 times. Uzbekistan, partly the Government of Moscow and other countries borrowed our work experience," said Yerkhat Iskaliyev, Chairman of the Board of SK-Pharmacy LLP.
The domestic pharmaceutical industry, due to effective measures of state support, has a huge potential for profitable investments. In addition, due to to the dynamic development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, cooperation with the international pharmaceutical industry, new production facilities are being created and existing pharmaceutical facilities are being modernized.
Following the results of the round table, the participants expressed confidence that this round table served as a unique platform for the exchange of experience and will play an important role in the future in the further implementation of joint projects, as well as contributes to the unleashing the potential of domestic exporters and the promotion of Kazakh products to foreign markets.
Sultanov Ruslan, Chairman of the Management Board of Institute of Economic Research JSC, moderator of the round table, thanking everyone for their participation, summed up that great attention will be paid to the export of our medicines to the markets of other countries.
