On February 27, in Almaty, a meeting was held between representatives of the Single Distributor "SK-Pharmacy" and NJSC "Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov". To develop joint scientific activities, including to promote medical education and popularize the profession of a pharmacist, the parties entered into a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation.
Cooperation involves the creation and implementation of educational and innovative programs for comprehensive advanced training and training of specialists in the field of modern international standards for ensuring the quality of medicines. The partnership includes the exchange of information and experience within the framework of the initiative to create medical and pharmaceutical clusters and develop the potential of clinical trials in Kazakhstan.
Thus, the parties intend to conduct training seminars for students, educational programs on educational industrial practice, symposiums, conferences, round tables, seminars on topical issues of pharmaceutical education.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, mutual methodological, organizational and methodological, consulting, informational and resource support will be provided on mutually agreed terms.
One of the tasks is to conduct scientific research aimed at creating import-substituting medicines, including by using the potential of long-term contracts, conducting preclinical and clinical trials.
“As you know, clinical research is one of the drivers for the development of the healthcare system as a whole, the development of the country's human resources, and at the same time attracting investment in innovative technologies. Today, in the context of the geopolitical situation, there is an outflow of clinical trials from neighboring countries, and Kazakhstan has a huge potential to occupy this niche,” said Erkhat Iskaliyev, Chairman of the Board of SK-Pharmacy LLP.
It is worth noting that the Kazakh National Medical University named after. Asfendiyarov has a high innovative potential in various areas of medicine. Only one Research Institute of Fundamental and Applied Medicine named after B. Atchabarov KazNMU named after. During the meeting, the parties also discussed the development of translational medicine, that is, the introduction of the results of fundamental research into practical healthcare, the improvement of research and production infrastructures with obtaining certificates of compliance with international standards.
Thus, the model of the academic system of health care and science, implemented in KazNMU, includes the clinical departments of the university, as well as leading research institutes and research centers in the main areas of medicine.
The development of the production of innovative products, the promotion of the industry in the direction of technology transfer, the localization of original medicines and the production of substances is of key importance in the activities of the Single Distributor.
Thanks to this approach, it is possible to launch various educational and innovative programs with BigPharma for comprehensive advanced training and training of specialists from all over Kazakhstan. For example, within the framework of the signed Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the pharmaceutical giant Roche, on the site of the established training center of the School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University, the launch of educational and innovative programs with other global vendors.
In addition, General Electric is interested in the prospect of organizing educational programs and trainings to ensure a high level of qualification of healthcare personnel in the effective use of high-tech medical equipment. In order to increase the efficiency of using the installed equipment, GE Healthcare plans to open a branch of GE Academy in Kazakhstan.
The result of partnership with KazNMU named after. S.D. Asfendiyarov will be the development and promotion of new educational programs with subsequent international recognition. The creation and development of an integrated academic health and science system will ensure the quality provision of advanced medical services along with an increase in the quality of education.
It was noted that human resources determine the efficiency of health systems, the quality and accessibility of medical care to the population. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for fruitful cooperation and noted that joint work would give impetus to the development of fundamental science and strengthen the scientific heritage of Kazakhstan.
