KAZAKHSTAN AND INDIA DISCUSSED THE PROSPECTS FOR COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF PHARMACEUTICALS

A business conference with representatives of 79 pharmaceutical companies in India on strengthening cooperation and exploring business development opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry between India and Kazakhstan started today in Almaty.

The business dialogue was organized at the initiative of the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India, Pharmaxcill. Pharmaxcill Council is established by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India to study pharmaceutical products on the global stage for further partnerships.

As part of the event, a B2B meeting was held between the Indian delegation and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, Executive Director of SK-Pharmaceuticals LLP Askhat Mubarakov spoke about government support measures that the Government of Kazakhstan currently provides for domestic pharmaceutical companies.

He noted that the state makes it possible to conclude long-term supply agreements with potential suppliers who intend to create or modernize the production of medicines and medical devices. According to him, long-term supply agreements can also be concluded for original patented drugs with contract manufacturing customers.

Also, to support domestic producers, various types of investment preferences are provided, including tax preferences.

As A. Mubarakov further noted, an important tool in the development of the country’s pharmaceutical industry is the attraction of large foreign pharmaceutical companies, including BIGPHARMA.

Several projects are being implemented in this direction: an agreement has been concluded with Pfizer on the localization of the pneumococcal vaccine Prevenar-20; An agreement on the localization of original medicines was signed with the Roche company, and a long-term agreement was signed with the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca within the framework of contract manufacturing.

“The provided state support measures allow us to develop our own development of medicines, as well as the transfer of innovative technologies for the domestic production of medicines and the production of patented original medicines in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” said Askhat Mubarakov.

At the end of the meeting, the parties assured their readiness to strengthen further cooperation.

It should be noted that the conference will last until July 25, 2024.
