Single Distributor with «Science Fund» JSC

On January 14, 2021, Nur-Sultan - the Single Distributor - SK-Pharmacia LLP signed a memorandum of understanding with the Science Foundation.

The purpose of the document is to create conditions for the development of cooperation between science and business, assistance in establishing regular contacts between scientific organizations and entrepreneurs. The parties hope to work together to implement the strategic programs of the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at industrial and innovative development of economic sectors and the development of science.

As a reminder, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry. According to which, over the next five years, Kazakhstan plans to launch at least 30 new productions in the pharmaceutical industry and increase production by 2.5 times. In total, the plan consists of 62 events and 8 sections.

As part of research and development work, a mid-term forecast and analysis will be carried out to identify promising sectors for the development of the pharmaceutical and medical industry.

The production of drugs using medicinal plants growing on the territory of the country and a biofactory has been organized to combat plant diseases and pests.

For this, it is planned to increase the volume of research funding, including direct funding for strategic research.

The Single Distributor and the Science Foundation, within the framework of cooperation, express their desire to jointly create a link between science and production. The main objectives of cooperation between the Parties are:

1) cooperation in the field of combining the interests of science in the field of pharmaceuticals and business in order to commercialize the results of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities;

2) activation of the process of innovative development and modernization of the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

3) assistance in the introduction of domestic scientific developments at the enterprises of the pharmaceutical industry in Kazakhstan;

4) interaction in attracting investments for financing (co-financing) scientific research, scientific and (or) scientific and technical projects and programs, projects for the commercialization of the results of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities in the field of pharmaceuticals;

5) organization and holding of joint conferences (round tables, seminars) on the orientation of science to the needs of enterprises.

The key problem in the development of the pharmaceutical industry is the weak integration of science, production and education. An important step in solving these problems will be the formation and maintenance of a close relationship between science, education and existing pharmaceutical production, which will give an impetus to the development of fundamental science and strengthen the scientific heritage of Kazakhstan. It is necessary to consider the possibility of providing support for research and development work aimed specifically at creating import-substituting medicines and stimulating effective patent research. However, this is impossible without the technological re-equipment of existing scientific laboratories, large medical universities like R&D centers and joint work with OTP and Big Pharma, as well as creating a system for allocating scientific grants and supporting clusters for the development of innovative drugs.

The company also stores medicines, organizes logistics processes for state medical institutions. Since 2011, "SK-Pharmacy" has become the organizer of the purchase of medical equipment purchased at the expense of the republican budget, as well as for further transfer to healthcare organizations on a financial lease basis.

The main subject of the Science Foundation is to promote the development of priority, proactive, risk-taking research and experimental design work, ensuring the practical implementation of scientific research in the country.
