On October 26, 2022, within the framework of the Astana Zdorovie – 2022 XIХ Kazakhstan International Healthcare Exhibition, the GLOBAL PHARM II International Pharmaceutical Forum was held with the support of the Kazakhstan Exhibition Company Iteca.
The Forum is organized by the Silk Way Development Fund Public Foundation in partnership with Quality Business Partners LLP, which are part of SILKWAY INNOVATION (E-Forum.net project) with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and SK-Pharmacy LLP.
The forum was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat, Vice Minister of Health Vyacheslav Dudnik, representatives of public medical organizations and communities, international pharmaceutical companies, domestic pharmaceutical enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other CIS countries.
The forum was held in a hybrid format (combining offline and online elements). The drivers of the forum were the Round Table, Strategic and Business sessions, after which the discussions moved to thematic sessions.
The purpose of this event is to help attract public and private investments in the development of pharmaceutical production in Kazakhstan, increase the export potential of domestic pharmaceutical products, increase scientific and human potential, as well as provide high-quality and modern medical equipment to healthcare organizations in Kazakhstan and establish constructive interaction in the development of domestic production.
Welcoming the forum participants, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azhar Giniyat, spoke about the importance of unprecedented changes affecting the dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry today and the need to quickly adapt to key trends in the global pharmaceutical industry.
The audience of the forum was represented by international pharmaceutical practitioners, scientists and practitioners of world renown, the largest manufacturers of medical products, heads of central government agencies and national companies, Kazakhstani and foreign entrepreneurs from many countries.
In his Message, the Head of State instructed to intensify cooperation with global pharmaceutical corporations and ensure the transfer of technologies and the latest developments, as well as the share of medicines and medical products of domestic production should be increased from the existing 17 to 50% already in 2025.
To solve this problem, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan is taking systemic measures, such as the approval of the Comprehensive Plan for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry until 2025, the development of the HEALTHY NATION National Project for 2021-2025, where one of the directions is the Domestic pharmaceutical industry of Kazakhstan.
The round table was attended by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat and representatives of foreign companies - global manufacturers such as Roche, Takeda, Johnson & Johnson and Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm. In addition, the faces of Astra Zeneca, Novartis, Nobel, Polpharma and Bayer were present online.
The speakers discussed the current situation of the Kazakh pharmaceutical market and investment markets in the country, as well as the prospects for the development of the industry. World players, in turn, gave expert advice.
The strategic session of the forum was devoted to the current topic “State policy in the field of drug circulation. Mechanisms for ensuring the stability of the pharmaceutical market and maintaining drug availability. The session discussed trends in the global pharmaceutical market; questions about the impact of new economic realities on the landscape of the pharmaceutical industry and approaches to forecasting the development of healthcare, as well as spoke about global trends and listened to expert opinions.
In addition, the main priorities and ways of implementing the Healthy Nation National Project, state support and investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan, and the role of pharmaceutical companies in the healthcare system and training of medical personnel were discussed. At the end of the session, the participants are presented with an overview of the international experience of clustering the pharmaceutical industry and issues of localization of BigPharma in the world markets.
The business session of the forum was devoted to the prospects for the development of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, and their barriers and challenges, where the participants discussed the export potential of Kazakhstan in the context of new geopolitical realities, pricing and registration of drugs and medical devices in accordance with the rules of the EAEU, and the development of the national GPD / GMP inspectorate.
Also during the forum, thematic sessions were held, where important issues of managing chronic infectious diseases, the joint responsibility of patients for health, the development of personalized medicine, the development of Kazakhstan's potential in clinical research, as well as topical problems of protecting children's health, in particular immunization and orphan diseases, were considered. The final thematic session was devoted to the Digital Healthcare topic.
The GLOBAL PHARM II International Pharmaceutical Forum is one of the largest industry events in the pharmaceutical industry. The forum opens up many platforms for dialogue and includes B2B and G2B meetings with the largest companies in the pharmaceutical industry and representatives of state structures of Kazakhstan. Thus, the forum hosted bilateral business meetings in the G2B, B2B format, which provided a unique opportunity to conduct effective individual negotiations.
This year, the Forum was attended by about 200 delegates from more than 10 countries of the world, another 1.2 thousand were connected online. Participants represented over 60 different companies.
