PLANS FOR LOCALIZATION OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT PRODUCTION WITH GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY WERE DISCUSSED

On September 07, 2022, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the management of General Electric Healthcare in Russia and the CIS, which was held with the participation of the Minister of Health, the management of SK-Pharmacy LLP and representatives of Kazakh Invest.

Dmitry Zanchev, Vice President of GE in Russia/CIS, and Elena Legezina, General Director of GE Healthcare in Russia/CIS, took part in the meeting on behalf of General Electric.

The parties discussed the development of strategic cooperation and participation of GE Healthcare in the program of modernization and re-equipment of medical institutions in Kazakhstan, as well as the potential and opportunities for organizing the production of GE Healthcare equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the areas of computed tomography, ultrasound medical equipment and functional diagnostics.

In order to implement the task set by the Head of State on the importance of cooperation with global corporations, attracting investors, ensuring the transfer of technologies and the latest developments, the Single Distributor takes the initiative to provide a platform for major brands to enter the country from packaging to the full production cycle.

The domestic market today is of great interest to international investors who are looking for new opportunities in emerging markets. The development of the production of expensive innovative products, the promotion of the industry in the direction of technology transfer, the localization of original medicines and medical devices is of key importance for the industry today.

In this regard, the meeting with the management of GE Healthcare in Russia/CIS continued at the site of the Single Distributor. The parties discussed plans for cooperation in the field of localization of the medical equipment production and interaction in clinical trials.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects for organizing educational programs and trainings to ensure a high level of qualification of the personnel of the healthcare system of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the effective use of high-tech medical equipment.

In order to increase the efficiency of using the installed equipment, GE Healthcare plans to open a branch of GE Academy in Kazakhstan. The search for a suitable partner and platform for the implementation of this project is currently underway.

General Electric Company is one of the leading manufacturers of medical equipment, the product line of which includes a wide range of types of medical equipment.

Since 2007, more than 2,700 pieces of GE equipment have been supplied to medical institutions across the country, including CT and MRI scanners, angiographs, mammography and ultrasound systems, as well as life support systems. As part of the governmental oncology program aimed at breast cancer screening, GE Healthcare has delivered more than 100 mammography systems across the country.

Following the meeting, the parties mutually expressed their opinion on the possibility of developing cooperation, and it was also noted that it is necessary to consolidate joint efforts for the purpose of mutually beneficial cooperation. The parties expressed confidence that that dialogue will definitely continue and bring mutually beneficial results.
