SK-PHARMACY AND THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF UZBEKISTAN DEFINED THE WAYS OF MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL COOPERATION

In order to implement the previously reached agreements following the results of negotiations between the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev as part of a state visit to Kazakhstan, as well as the 19th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation, a working trip was made by the head of the Single Distributor to Tashkent.

The purpose of the working trip is to discuss priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, to study the experience of pharmaceutical clusters and vaccine logistics in compliance with the so-called "cold chain", as well as to determine the prospects for expanding further partnership.

As part of the working trip, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a number of meetings were held with large pharmaceutical manufacturers of Uzbekistan and potential investors.

The parties stressed the importance of Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation in the field of healthcare, based on mutual respect and mutual trust, and expressed their readiness for active cooperation and exchange of experience, knowledge and achievements in the pharmaceutical field.

As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the Single Distributor SK-Pharmacy and the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Thus, the parties agreed to create conditions for the development of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry, assistance in establishing regular contacts, entry of domestic manufacturers of the pharmaceutical market, joint research and analysis to improve the provision of the population of the two countries with medicines.

Also, during the working visit, for the purpose of studying, a visit was organized to the innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster Tashkent Pharma Park, the pharmaceutical free economic zone Parkent Pharm and manufacturing enterprises.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are the largest economic partners in the region. According to the results of 10 months of 2021, trade increased by 30% and exceeded $3.2 billion. A high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan has also been achieved in the pharmaceutical sector. Today, Kazakh pharmaceutical manufacturers successfully export their products to the Uzbek market.

Recall that in November 2020, the Roadmap was adopted to expand and deepen cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which includes issues of industrial cooperation in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, namely: the construction of a plant for the production of medicines and hygiene products in Shymkent with a deadline of 2020 -2022 and the creation of joint ventures for the production of pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan.

Following the results of the working visit, the parties noted that the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming an additional incentive in the process of reforming the medicine supply system and finding ways to improve the system. New challenges must be seen as an opportunity for real and fundamental change in the region.
