TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OF SAMSUNG GLOBAL CORPORATION TO KAZAKHSTAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

Leading South Korean vendor Samsung Medison continues to localize production in Kazakhstan. To study the possibility of further localization of the production of medical equipment and work out detailed steps, the leadership of a foreign company arrived in the republic.

Within the framework of the working visit, a chain of meetings with the Kazakh side took place.

The first such meeting was held in the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the chairmanship of the head of the Medical Center of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexei Tsoi together with Ordamed JSC, as well as representatives of the Single Distributor SK-Pharmacy LLP.

The agenda discussed bilateral strategic partnership and the possibilities of the global corporation Samsung in an integrated approach to the development of healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The head of state noted the importance of cooperation with global pharmaceutical corporations, attracting investors, ensuring technology transfer and the latest developments.

As part of the activities carried out to develop interaction with global brands, the Single Distributor laid the foundation for the beginning of cooperation between the leading vendor Samsung and Kazakhstan.

As a result of the integrated work of the Single Distributor, the domestic company Ordamed signed five memorandums with South Korean companies, including Samsung Medison. Within the framework of the concluded document, an agreement was reached on the localization of ultrasound diagnostic systems in Kazakhstan.

Based on the existing localization experience, the parties intend to ensure the transfer of unique technologies and launch the process of localizing the production of ultrasound machines. Samsung technologies help clinicians focus on clinical practice, assist in clinical decision making, and improve image quality. Since the accuracy of the diagnosis is recognized as the main component of successful treatment, the meeting touched upon the impact of early high-quality diagnosis on improving the statistics of the growth of the disease in Kazakhstan.

At the dialogue platform, the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Ordamed" Yerkin Dlimbetov spoke about the work done on the project "Production of Samsung ultrasonic devices in Kazakhstan". The enterprise with a total area of 1000 square meters is located in the city of Almaty. After the complete completion of the construction of the production facility, components for the production of equipment will be imported.

One of the most common Korean-made ultrasonic systems is Heka. The line of this brand provides a number of possibilities in diagnostics thanks to intuitive visualization. To date, four Heka models have received a registration certificate in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In the current modern realities, it is impossible to talk about the effectiveness of medicine without the transformation of all business processes in the industry. That is why the Head of State has repeatedly noted the importance of digitalization of the healthcare system in his speeches.

As part of the last government visit of First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar to the Republic of Korea, discussions were held with the CEO of Samsung Electronics Seung-Hee Park to help create an effective healthcare model through the internal divisions of Samsung C&T (design and construction), Samsung SDS Health IT / EHR (e-health solutions), Samsung Biologics (BioPharma) and Samsung Medical Center (comprehensive support for physician education and telemedicine).

Samsung Medison is ready to contribute to the Kazakh medical community and comes up with a number of proposals for the digitalization of the healthcare system. The first is the transfer of production technologies such as assembly technology and quality control know-how. The company has initiated collaborations with hospitals and institutes to conduct clinical trials.

In addition, academic cooperation was proposed from the Korean side. Samsung Medison intends to work with the Almaty University of Energy and Telecommunications to conduct internships, seminars, joint research on technology development and student training in medical equipment. Another initiative is to conduct an ultrasound sono academy, that is, learning by doing.

The final meeting of the parties was held with the participation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Azhar Giniyat, as well as the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the heads of several departments of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the RSE on REM "National Center for Expertise of Medicines and Medical Devices", as well as the Unified distributor.

The parties considered the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement between Samsung Medison Corporation and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the further practical implementation of all initiatives and determining specific steps for all joint activities.

“The single distributor takes an active position in the development of cooperation in the field of medical and pharmaceuticals between Kazakhstan and South Korea. Thus, in order to support and develop the domestic pharmaceutical and medical industry, the Single Distributor is taking the initiative to provide a platform for major brands to enter the country from packaging to the full production cycle,” said Erkhat Iskaliyev, head of the Single Distributor.

During a working visit to the Republic of South Korea last year, the Single Distributor, on behalf of the government, with the assistance of the Korean Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Korea, organized a round table to develop projects and study the work of South Korean medical and pharmaceutical clusters and the production of medical equipment. After that, a number of meetings on cooperation between the two countries were repeatedly held at the site of the Single Distributor.

Establishing close cooperation with the Korean pharmaceutical business is of great importance for Kazakhstan. The single distributor, in turn, will continue to further strengthen the strategic partnership.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for bilateral cooperation and joint work in the field of localization of production, their implementation, including the intensification of integration cooperation between friendly countries - the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Thus, the localization of production in Kazakhstan of the leading Korean company will allow the implementation of industrial and innovative strategic programs for the sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan, and, of course, will give impetus to the development of competitiveness and potential of the country's medical and pharmaceutical industry.
