On July 21, 2022, the Single Distributor of SK-Pharmacy LLP held the online meeting with representatives of the German company Ackermann, which is a manufacturer of medical equipment in the field of open and minimally invasive surgery, as well as alloying and spinal implants.
The meeting was attended by Ackermann CEO Peter Grassl, Ackermann Global Sales Director Andrzej Sosna. Representatives of the exclusive distributor of Ackermann in Kazakhstan, representatives of Technoproekt-A LLP also took part in the meeting.
Ackermann expressed interest in discussing the issues of localization of production in the Republic of Kazakhstan and shared information about the history of the company and the product line.
It should be noted that Ackermann is a new player in the medical equipment market in Kazakhstan since the products of this manufacturer have not been imported to our country before. The company's medical product line includes reusable hand instruments, rigid endoscopes, hybrid instruments, Fusion Endoscopy Tower system, urology and gynecology products; hemostatic titanium clips and applicators; implants and instruments for cervical and lumbar fixation (from PEEK to 3D printed titanium); range of ROLAN INSTRUMENTS surgical instruments.
It should be recalled that the Head of State instructed to switch to a centralized procurement of medical equipment on the basis of the Single Distributor, following the example of the procurement of medicines and medical devices. In pursuance of the order, it is planned to carry out a centralized medical equipment procurement in two stages. In the future, the Republican Program for medical equipping for the next five years will be approved with the definition of funding sources.
Also, the President noted the importance of cooperation with global manufacturers of medicines and medical devices, attracting investors, ensuring technology transfer and the latest developments.
In fulfillment of these instructions, the Single Distributor began working with global manufacturers of medical equipment to develop tools for centralization, including on the terms of localization of production using the mechanisms of long-term contracts, off-take contracts, and life cycle contracts.
During the discussion, the possibilities for using the mechanisms of long-term contracts, direct contracts for the medical equipment procurement, issues of medical equipping, planning equipment, financing, improving service maintenance and repair were announced. In addition, the issue of the possibility of opening training centers in Kazakhstan was discussed.
Ackermann is part of a business project to localize production in Kazakhstan, developed by the local distributor Technoproekt-A LLP with the participation of 3 more vendors from Japan, the USA and Hungary, with whom the local supplier cooperates. Within the framework of this business project during 2023-2027. Ackermann plans to increase the volume of localization from 6 to 30%.
Speaking about the role of production localization, it should be noted that entering a new stage of integration will be a transition to a new industry model. And the tasks of increasing the level of localization of production play one of the key roles in this regard.
Following the meeting, it was noted that it is necessary to consolidate joint efforts for the purpose of mutually beneficial cooperation it was proposed to develop a roadmap and sign a memorandum of cooperation. The parties expressed confidence that that dialogue will definitely continue and bring mutually beneficial results.
