In February 2009, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a decision was made to create a single distribution system for the purchase and provision of drugs and medical supplies.
Thus, in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 11, 2009 No. 134, SK-Pharmacy LLP is defined as a single distributor, created with the aim of providing drugs and medical equipment to the population within the framework of the state volume of medical care and in the compulsory health insurance system, increasing the stability and competitiveness of the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, development of the pharmaceutical industry by consolidating public procurement of drugs and medical supplies.
The main activities of the Single Distributor:
• Organization of open tenders for the purchase of medicines within the guaranteed volume of free medical care;
• Organization of storage of medicinal products in accordance with the requirements of good distribution practices and the Legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Organization of logistics processes for medicines and medical devices to state medical organizations;
• Creation of an information system for integrating the logistics processes of the Single Distributor, the customer and suppliers, as well as for obtaining up-to-date information on turnover, commodity balances.
With the transfer of the function of centralized procurement of medical equipment, SK-Pharmacy LLP was tasked with reducing its cost by centralizing procurement within the republic and using two-stage tender procedures, further improving the quality of the purchased equipment and ensuring its uninterrupted operation.
